Basara Temple Aksharabhyasam timings: Gnana saraswathi temple is a Hindu temple of goddess saraswathi located at the banks of Godavari river at Basar, telangana. It is one of the famous temples of saraswathi Devi in India. Saraswathi is the Hindu goddess of knowledge and learning. Children are brought to the temple for the learning ceremony called as Aksharabhyasam.

The children perform the excise of letters, and devote books, pens, pencils, notebooks to the goddess of knowledge.

What is the meaning of Aksharabhyasam ?

The meaning of akshara is ‘alphabets’ and the meaning of bhyasam means ‘practice’. Hence this function is considered as pre-requisite as per the Hindu religion before the child starts going to formal education in school.

Aksharabhyasam is a sacred religious function which is performed in view of starting education to the child. Generally, this function is performed when the child completes two years of age and is in its third year. As in the mind of the child develops and is keen to learn new things in this world, this religious function called akshrabhyasam is performed in the 3rd year as an initiation to start formal education.

Aksharabhyasam at Basara Saraswati Devi Temple timings:

  • Aksharabhyasam will perform daily in this temple.
  • Ticket will purchase at the time of arrival only. Online booking is not available.
  • Only parents are allowed for the event
  • Rs, 100/- will be collected per person other than parents

The timings for aksharabhyasam are as follows.

To perform this pooja children age should be 2.6 years or above. And the parents should follow the dress code.
